I was chief slot editor and reorganized the copy desk when Capital Newspapers folded its afternoon Albany newspaper and merged its staff with the morning Times Union's. I evaluated prospective hires and consulted with the news editor on staff assignments. I was co-editor of the Times Union's stylebook.

I was hired to create, with one other reporter, a competitive radio news department. I was responsible for four daily news broadcasts in addition to reporting and writing. I also did weekly commentaries and occasional  play-by-play sports broadcasts.

December 1974-September 1976  Times Herald Record, Middletown, N.Y.
