When a newspaper lets its chief flack write "news," no one should be surprised that the news reads a lot like a press release. I especially like the last bit and think it should be used to wrap up all stories, e.g., "The Sun-Times proudly supports the police department" or "The Sun-Times proudly supports the Cubs and/or WhiteSox."
