Kilgore appealed directly to the White House and Attorney General John Ashcroft (news - web sites) for federal prosecutors to step aside and let Virginia and Maryland prosecute the two suspects. Kilgore noted his state's track record of executing murder defendants. (AP)<p>***You'd think they'd at least wait until they are "convicted" in a "trial."***

	I expect this whole sorry story to turn up as a future episode of "CSI," in which William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger turn out to be completely wrong about everything in a given case and, as a result, lots of innocent people die. I don't watch TV, but even I would make an effort for THAT.
