What with all the chatter about the redesigned Poynter Institute Web site, I decided to venture in for a few minutes to see what nastiness that place is foisting upon us these days. I happened upon the "Headline of the Day" feature (here). Some of the headlines apparently were posted because they were considered "funny" ("Woman Cuts Off Nosy Husband's Ear," ha-ha). Others apparently are considered "good" ("At $35,000, Big Truffle Is Nothing to Trifle With," oooh). All of this reminds me that I was going to say something about "headline contests," but you probably can guess what that might be.
