This is from an article in something called the Jewish Exponent. Seems Philly Inquirer Editor Walker Lundy met recently with members of a Jewish congregation to discuss bias in the paper's Middle East reporting.
"Perhaps the paper is balanced in the number of stories it writes on the Palestinians and the Israelis, but certainly not in its approach to those stories, said congregant Steve Stone. For example, he said, Inquirer news headlines often editorialize on the Mideast conflict or throw subtle jabs at the Jewish state.
" 'Headlines are written at the last minute by copy editors,' and have to be made to fit very small spaces, Lundy responded. 'I don’t pretend we are a perfect newspaper, but there’s no conspiracy.'”
**Funny, I always thought the head was supposed to reflect the content of the story.**
[ May 01, 2002: Message edited by: SusanV ]
[ May 01, 2002: Message edited by: SusanV ]
