The National Post chose not to give it play on the front page and did a page 3 story on Chretien's mixed message. In this instance, they got it right. (Normally, I don't give the Post much regard.) Then the Post bettered everyone still by following up Saturday with a piece on how confused Canada's foreign policy is under Chretien and ran an illustation showing all three papers from the previous day. Neither the Globe nor the Star were right but neither were they wrong. They both chose to focus on a quote to their liking. Unfortunately on that day the prime minister, who speaks with a notable droop on one side of his lip, was speaking from both sides of his mouth. The Star and the Globe oversimplified their stories causing great confusion.
