From a story about the Los Angeles Times and the changes that its editor, John Carroll, is making:
The style of the paper’s features coverage also is likely to change. Carroll told reporters at the May 16 meeting that stories “should be witty, intelligent, have a strong voice, be timely, be taut,” said one of the attendees. (Los Angeles Business Journal)
***This no doubt cause panic among the staff, which was schooled on the notion that features stories, by definition, should be humorless, dumb, written in a submissive and meek voice, obsolete and flabby.***
