A newspaper carrier is being credited with saving an elderly Genoa Township man's life after discovering a fire at his home.
Alexandra Rancont was about two-thirds of the way through her route when she discovered a fire at 5:45 a.m. today at the 3500 block of Pineridge Lane in Genoa Township.
The woman said she noticed a large orange glow as she pulled up to the home, and at first believed it was a bonfire. On second thought, it wasn't likely that an elderly man would be having a bonfire at that hour, she said.
Bonus: Yeah, but what about my paper?

Rancont left the scene when emergency personnel arrived, and was able to finish her route early. She said she's glad Thurston escaped without injury.
