Being another Media General paper, when Rex happens, we print it. I suppose it saves us from having to run another story about important events.

One of these grafs is real, you guess
As we prepared to pull out of the city, I opened my mouth and popped in a red piece of candy. It tasted sweet, so very sweet.
Sharing the pack of candy from the MRE was Marine Lance Cpl. Brian Anderson. An honorable man and a man that loved the honor of serving his country in a time of war
As we bounced down the road near Nasiriyah. Anderson shared with me the story of his wife and two young children back stateside. Katie was his wife and Raines loved her deeply. He loved Jessica and Kyle even more.
Anderson won't be coming home to see them. He died fighting for the American way of life. In a country that is so un-American.

Baghdad, Iraq --- The soldiers were there for a reason.
The logical, rational explanation is that they were there because their tank caught fire and had to be destroyed. So, without a ride, they jumped onto the armored personnel carrier with me.
I prefer to believe it was the hand of God that put them there, one behind me, one to my left. They were there to protect me.
Had they not been there, I most likely would not be now typing this. (Ron Martz, Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
***Glad you survived, Ron, but I think God was a little too busy to worry about a newspaper writer who's in love with the personal pronoun. Save it for your memoirs.***

I propose ending this right here. This is not the place for theological debate.

I'm sure that Marine's family will be pleased to know that God chose their father to save the life of a war coorespondent.

Now that the "embedded" reporters are coming home, many of them insist on writing first-person accounts, including such adventures as, "In the 26 days I went without a shower, I rarely missed a clean shave." (John Bebow, Detroit News)
[ April 28, 2003: Message edited by: blanp ]

The desk's worst nighmare: reporters who think they just got back from a real war.
A real war is one in which there is some parity between opponents. What we just saw was the Oakland Raiders playing a bunch of guys who like to sit around and talk football.
