from The Arizona Republic:
Gov. Janet Napolitano has asked for the resignation of the chairman of the Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names for refusing to consider renaming Squaw Peak in honor of fallen Pfc. Lori Piestewa, an idea the governor enthusiastically supports.
***The Jessica Lynch overload is one thing (4th lede today at 7 p.m.), but how does something going so far out of proportion even occur? Later in the story, it's revealed that laws governing such naming prohibit any action before five years pass from the time of death.
Perhaps balanced coverage necessitates this sort of story (on the front page no less), but the fact is the governor is using the death of a service member to ram though something she's wanted to do for years -- and to me, that's the story. Don't look for that too hard, it's not in what they ran.
