It coulda been worse ... it could have been "Moviegoers dance with Ben Affleck's daredevil."<p>That being said, the lede you presented has been summarily depthcharged, blowtorched, eviscerated and baby-seal-clubbed.

If you check the archives, you'll find that this is a weekly "feature" of AP's weekend box-office report. A tortured pun in the headline is followed by the same tortured pun in the lede. As in:<p>'Kangaroo Jack' hops past 'National Security' in box office race<p>You'll have a guaranteed outrage once a week, but where's the sport in that?

Yes. For years, the AP box-office story has been prime evidence that hundreds of papers use AP unedited. (I assume it's an AP office joke, but, then, I always give the benefit of the doubt.)<p>[ February 17, 2003: Message edited by: blanp ]</p>
