... about this story, but it doesn't use the much-debated term "reverse discrimination."

"That would be like me deciding, 'Hey, I want to feed the hungry but I don't have any means to do that, so I'm going to go rob a grocery store,' " she says. "It's still illegal, even though my intentions are good."
Neither a parallel nor a compelling argument for her case.

I quibble only with the following:
"As for her own life, Gratz says she decided not to transfer to Ann Arbor after her sophomore year at Dearborn; too many of her core courses wouldn't have carried over."
1) This was her dream university, the one she always wanted to attend. She's saying she wouldn't transfer because too many of her core courses wouldn't transfer? Makes it seem that attending the U of M was not as all-important as she makes it out to be.
2) I would have liked to confirm that the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor would not accept transfer credits from the University of Michigan at Dearborn. These are different campuses of the same university. Perhaps it's true, but it seems illogical to me, and I would have liked to know somebody checked it out.
[ February 23, 2003: Message edited by: Tim Hathcock ]

The story seems to ignore the possibility that she simply didn't meet the academic requirements for the program that she wanted. Maybe a 3.8 GPA and 25/33 ACT score didn't make the cut. What were the lower GPAs and standardized test scores for successful applicants in the same program that year?
[ February 24, 2003: Message edited by: Dyslexic ]
