We were unable to stop the word and phenomenon. The morning duo on ESPN radio were going on last week about their "metrosexual" survey getting 400,000 Web hits; Maureen Dowd cemented her ownership of the word with a weekend column about Arnold Schwarzenegger that defies you to make it past the first 2 grafs; and today, alas, AlterNet succumbed.
It's over, folks.

OK. By and large, cartoons in the New York stopped being funny decades ago (if they ever were funny), but every once in a while there's an exception.
Image

If a New Yorker cartoon doesn't involve talking animals or a guy on a desert island, I don't get it.

Hey, can we kill the word and keep the phenomenon? A guy who dresses well and cooks for me doesn't sound bad.
Heck, I'd do all the cooking if he'd just do housework... a guy who does housework can get away with a lot.

A good deal of the book is devoted to the rise and fall of the self-destructive proto-metrosexual Brian Jones, who died of mysterious causes in 1969. -- NYT
*Does this make him a retro metro?
p.s. What would make Brian Jones a metrosexual, anyway?*

Even the first new episode of "South Park" in months is jumping on the bandwagon. It will air tonight (Wednesday), Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Perish the thought that Roeper would fall in with a "trend."

Actually, Roeper goes a little deeper and makes a mildly interesting point today.
