I was amused to see Thomas Frank's edition-opening essay in the latest Harper's calling for economic justice on the fifth anniversary of the economic crisis (time flies!), with a layout that ended midway down a page column, with the rest of the column devoted to a house ad calling for interns to apply -- for positions that are unpaid, of course.
And then I was unsettled to read a news report about Bank of America
literally working an intern to death.Welcome to the permanent lower class, where death might be a viable alternative.
